In a move that will cost taxpayers in California $75 million, Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Wednesday that the state will give up to 150,000 illegal aliens $500 each as part of its coronavirus relief efforts. In announcing the state’s Disaster Relief Fund specifically designed for that purpose, California is now the first state to give coronavirus cash to illegal immigrants. The move comes as Californians have been hit particularly hard by the economic crisis resulting from state-mandated shutdowns.
“We feel a deep sense of gratitude for people that are in fear of deportations that are still addressing essential needs of tens of millions of Californians,” Newsom said Wednesday in announcing his decision to direct $75 million of taxpayer money to the relief fund.
Illegal immigrants, of which there are an estimated 2.2 million in California, comprise some 10% of the state’s workforce and account for some $2.5 billion in state and local taxes, the governor claimed.
One potential problem with the plan is widespread fear among illegal immigrants about coming in contact with government entities. In part to address that issue, California state officials will not be the ones deciding which illegal immigrants receive the cash.

Couldn’t agree more. It makes NO SENSE to me that a state governor in another state from mine should be allowed to unilaterally raise my taxes. I kept hoping that CALEXIT was real.

California is contracting with Motel 6 for housing. I’m appalled. I would have expected the Hilton. I’m sure the homeless will not check out and move back into the streets. Perhaps the Hilton, they would feel under dressed and not as easy to park the shopping cart close to the door.
The only thing Newsom should be giving illegals is a one way ticket to Mexico.

Another problem with this is most of the money the illegals receive will likely be sent to their countries amd not actually spent here in California. Don’t be so hard on the few American Democrats still trying to be heard in California. The elitist are trying to get rid of them and California Americans are pretty much overwhelmed. From what I just read today, California hasn’t cleaned out their voter registration records in quite some time. So, you have to wonder who really won the last election in California?

I’m 70 and was born and bred in Kern County where I still live. I have always had a CA zip code, even when I served in the USN (late 60s & very early 70s). Since Brown was re-elected in 2010, and now Newsom, they have declared any and all non-democrat citizens their blood enemies and have repeatedly said so in somewhat disguised terms . I said, “OK, you all are mine then, by default”. Obey nothing coming from Sacramento with the exception of the CHP on the road; they are pretty good guys. That’s my advice.

I do not believe they contribute any thing near $2.5 billion. It costs the taxpayers of California $23 billion to
feed, clothe and house them. It seems to me the taxpayers are really getting screwed by the Democrats.

These states must understand that this cash cow has limits and they must be careful with what money they receive. California should not expect more. I want to know where. Congress is getting this money and how and who will pay it back. Everyone should worry about that.
Isn’t this a violation of immigration law? Harboring? Aiding? If funds are distributed as checks undersigned by the State of California, wouldn’t that produce a record that could be traced to an individual who could be immediately deported? It’s ridiculous.
This is all part of the take down of America. Cause a meltdown of the economy and bankruptcy will abound, businesses, cities, individuals, countries, states and in their eyes and hopes, America.
