Article from The Daily Wire by James Barrett.
After turning in his badge earlier in the day, the officer who shot and killed 28-year-old Atatiana Jefferson in her home early Saturday morning after responding to a neighbor’s call to a non-emergency police number has been arrested. The shooting, which involved a white officer and a black victim, has sparked racially charged outrage in the community, and the department’s release of body cam footage has only inspired more criticism.
In an update to the case posted online Monday, the Fort Worth Police Department announced that officer Aaron Dean, 34, has been arrested and charged with murder. “Aaron Dean was arrested by Fort Worth Police on Oct. 14. Dean has been charged with murder of Atatiana Jefferson,” the department announced. “Dean is in the Tarrant County Jail.”
In a press release issued soon after the announcement, the department expressed its “deepest condolences to the family of Ms. Jefferson” and provided more details about Dean’s arrest.
“At approximately 6 p.m., Aaron Dean was arrested for the murder of Ms. Jefferson and he has since been booked in Tarrant County Jail,” the statement reads. “Our department is working closely with the Tarrant County District Attorney’s office. Our Major Case and Internal Affairs Units are continuing to work around the clock to ensure that no stone is left unturned and justice for Ms. Jefferson’s family and community are served.”

He did not INFORM or IDENTIFY himself before PROWLING around her back and side yard, then IMMEDIATELY shot her when he saw a firearm in her hands through a window.
FIRST DEGREE DEATH PENALTY!
The only charge that he might possibly be convicted for is negligent homicide
“BLUE LIVES MATTER”
Yes Blue Lives Matter, and I am pro police, to a point. We all make poor decisions on occasion and unfortunately this officer made a huge mistake. From what I’ve heard and seen he never gave her a chance to surrender or to put down the gun, or to identified himself. Further more the front door was reportedly open, if it was why didn’t he call for backup and just go to the front door, or check with the neighbor who called it in. There’s a lot of things missing in this whole thing. God bless her and her family for this tragic mistake.
What have you heard and seen? I’d like more details.
Yes, blue lives matter, but vigilante-ism cannot be tolerated especially from police. He had protocol to follow & didn’t. He made choices that he is responsible for. This also was not even an emergency call!
Yes they do, HOWEVER, that doesn’t give them the right to harm innocent people, even by accident or misunderstanding. Police must be held to a higher standard.
More information on the incident is at https://www.nytimes.com/2019/10/15/us/aaron-dean-atatiana-jefferson.html
There’s no evidence that the officer could see the victim’s gun, which she had a right to have.
This is a sad case. The officer isn’t a murderer at heart, but he MUST be punished severely. That means years in prison.
We all matter and that’s murder. You’re a citizen as we all are and you need to pay your debt!
This is a damn shame and a serious black eye for the good police officers doing their job in a professional manner every day. I strongly support the police in their jobs however, with that said this officers actions were completely out of line and he should be held to the most server penalty allowed. Not only did he act without exercising professional judgement but he acted without applying his training.
Big deal. He did everyone a favor.
I am waiting for the real story as to how things went down, we have buried too many police offers this year for hesitating. I want to hear the officer’s side.
