California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced on Tuesday he is pulling the plug on the state’s massive high-speed rail project from Los Angeles to San Francisco that was more than a decade behind schedule and billions in the red.
“Let’s be real,” Newsom said in his first State of the State address. “The current project, as planned, would cost too much and respectfully take too long. There’s been too little oversight and not enough transparency.”
Newsom added that while California has “the capacity to complete a high-speed rail link between Merced and Bakersfield,” “there simply isn’t a path to get from Sacramento to San Diego, let alone from San Francisco to L.A.”
The embattled $77-billion bullet train has been an embarrassment for the Golden State and has been plagued by problems almost from the start.

Maybe they could have put it to better use if it ran from the Mexican border to San Francisco. Just think how fast they could have picked up those illegals and taken to their new tent homes on the already overcrowded sidewalks. Opportunity lost.
What a shock!! , Governor “moon beam’s ” train to nowhere realized as a failure—When will the new Governor admit sanctuary cities (like L.A. with a 3rd World disease outbreak & feces lined streets) are not good for the health of Our Country. Come here LEGALLY or stay where You are.

The moonbeam Brown fast train project was DOA even before it was started. The state was then and is now totally underwater budget wise but the democrats didn’t care. So they flushed more that $5 billion down the drain before admitting they are stupid. I am starting to get the impression California, with it’s rats and open air loos is beyond salvation. Obviously, Newsom is not the person to “clean up” the state. Not after the way he left his last job, mayor of San Francisco.

If a Democrat is in charge of almost anything you either have an ongoing mess on your hands or you have a mess waiting to happen. They should never, ever be in a power position where they can make a decision that effects us. They are wrong far more than they are right.

By common decency and fear of committing a fraud, the money MUST be returned. It was obtained under the guise of a “bullet train” from point “A” and “B”. So to take money intended for that location and use it at a unapproved location would be fraud, and a “gift of public funds”.
Aw hell, Just let China handle the project, They probably own half the land by now anyway due to the balance of trade deficits the U.S. has incurred, Their rail system is top notch in technology because the government doesn’t jerk around pandering for favors or pocket stuffing…Just look at the New Belt Road initiative with many videos available to view…
And besides, If Trump wants to build the wall then let China do it (I do believe they have great experience in that). The only problem …Will it keep them out or keep us in? Another political farce from the git go.

QNow that the project was cancelled, the federal money that was borrowed,3.5 Billion, should have to be repaid.
There never was a plan to build the train. Make a proposal, get the money in taxes and grants, steal the money, then claim bankruptcy.
