Senator Rand Paul has testified that he feared for his life when he was viciously tackled by his angry neighbor, who broke six of his ribs in an attack sparked by yard debris on their property line.

Neighbor Dr. Rene Boucher blindsided Paul, 56, and tackled him as he was doing yard work at his Bowling Green, Kentucky, home on November 3, 2017.

On Monday the Republican senator was the first witness at the trial for the civil lawsuit he brought against his attacker.

Paul is seeking up to $500,000 in compensatory damages and up to $1 million in punitive damages.
