Baltimore Bans Kids From Ordering Soda
Article from The Daily Wire by Ashe Schow.
Baltimore, M.D., has become the first major city to ban sodas and other sugary drinks from the kids’ menus of restaurants, according to NBC.
The new measure went into effect on Wednesday, and while it is intended to keep kids and families from ordering sodas, parents will still be able to order soda for their kids. But the kids’ menu will show milk, water, and 100% fruit juices as options.
So basically, this is all a big feel good that won’t have any actual impact. Just like the soda tax implemented in liberal cities across the country, which doesn’t actually stop people from buying soda but does allow the government to make more money off of those buying the drinks.
Baltimore has an allegedly high rate of childhood obesity, according to the city’s health commissioner, Dr. Leana Wen. She says that one in three kids in high school is obese, and one in four Baltimore kids drinks at least one soda a day.
