John Paul Stevens, the 97-year-old retired Supreme Court justice, is calling for the repeal of the Second Amendment and is encouraging anti-gun protesters to do the same.
Stevens, once the leader of the court’s liberals, said the “schoolchildren and their supporters” who have been demonstrating against school shootings should “seek more effective and more lasting reform.”
“They should demand a repeal of the Second Amendment,” Stevens wrote in an op-ed for the New York Times on Tuesday.
Stevens argued that the amendment – which states that “a well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed” – is a “relic of the 18th century.”

second amendment, or no second amendment! I still have a human right, being born to this earth to protect myself, and my family by any means I feel is necessary for me to do so. No man, no matter what position. Has a right to tell me any different. So you people who believe that you can dictate how someone else protects their family, because you do not have the courage to defend your own. You who want to depend on the police to get there in time, you who have faith that your government would never try to control you. When what their doing with your help right now is the first step!
Of coarse he wants to repeal the Second Amendment. That way the government can control the people as all dictatorship countries do. Thank you but I’ll just what I have to do and keep mine.
I believe HE may be the ‘relic’.
