Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) is nothing, if not pragmatic; and that doesn’t have to be a dirty word. One could rightly observe that President Trump and Dr. Paul are not cut from the same political cloth, but they do have some shared objectives; when those objectives are completed, pro-liberty policies receive tactical wins.

“During President Trump’s first year, we lowered Americans’ taxes, eliminated unnecessary regulations, appointed constitutional conservatives to all levels of the judiciary, including seating Justice Neil Gorsuch on the Supreme Court, and achieved conservative reforms in health care, foreign aid, energy, and more,” Sen. Paul released to the press.

“Our economy is growing, businesses are boosting workers’ pay and reinvesting in America, and policies are being crafted with a focus on putting America first. There is still much to be done, but I am excited about the gains we made in the past year, and I look forward to continuing to work with the President to help ensure this is only the beginning,” Sen Paul concluded.

Dr. Paul still has plenty of room for disagreement with the President, but lower taxes, less regulation, and less foreign entanglement marks clear progress over the Obama administration. He remains the pro-liberty conscience of a populist party that needs such guidance if it is to limit government as it claims to do.
